Subject: Distributor Woes - 88 GL - 2.1L
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Dear Volks,

I finally got the distributor swapped out with a known-good used one. I haven't attempted to start it yet. Will do today.

I noted that even with the TDC timing mark at the split in the case - the distributor finger on the replacement distributor did not line up with the mark on the distributor housing. I take it that this means there are timing differences between the current engine and the one from which the distributor was removed. I will have to re-time the engine with this replacement distributor. In doing so - first step is to statically adjust the distributor so the distributor finger lines up with the housing mark. This should give me a starting point and I can adjust timing from there after engine warms up.

Will report final result.

Thanks for all the input to help. \ As usual, The List was the greatest!!

John
