This power steering reservoir is used on a lot of VW and Audi products. To
replace the filter that large black cover has to be unscrewed. It will get
stuck on there real tight. Once that is removed there is a spring and top
plate which just lifts out and there is the filter.

Subject: Re: Power Steering reservoir filter question
Hi Scott and others,
The cap comes off the power steering reservoir easily. But
apparently my mechanic could then not get the filter out. So I'm hoping
someone can give me directions on how to remove it. For example does it
twist out clock wise or pull straight out or is there some other trick?
Tips are greatly appreciated.

I'm getting it back tomorrow. Thanks to Dennis Haynes and a few others I
had quite a list of things I wanted done. I told the mechanic to take his
time as I would not use the bus in the winter. I won't say that next year
as I wanted it back before the snow settled in!

because it would not come out of the reservoir. He was afraid to try too
hard in case the reservoir might break.
