While my '81 Vanagon does not have PS, my '87 Syncro Westy does, and I appreciate it--more so after driving from California back to Colorado without a belt for it once. On the highway, you'd never know, but pull into the gas station and you wanted the PS>

But my "newest" car, an '88 Carrera does NOT have PS, and I know it everytime I parallel park! My old '72 911T didn't need it, but by '88, the tires had gotten so wide that it was work. The next year with the Carrera 4, power steering came along for 911s.
