The Eurovan with equipped with a battery charger or as is often used and charger-converter. These use a relay and actually isolate the house loads from the battery. The Westy didn't even come with the 2nd battery.

Sorry for the crazy question...just sold my 1993 Westfalia Eurovan and bought a 1986 Westfalia. On the Eurovan Westy (Canadian model) when it was plugged, lights , fridge, aux.heater fan, and all the camper equipment, would be running off the offshore current, not the coach battery, but It would also charge the battery when plugged. My question: with the 1986, my understanding is that when plugged the coach battery does not get charged, and the electrical camper parts like the lights ( except for the fridge, etc) are still running off the coach battery not the offshore current... Is my understanding correct? Thanks again Alain
