I had similar problem with my '84 a couple of years ago. I had a bad O2 sensor.

My vehicle is driven frequently and runs fine except for a persistent idle problem. After driving either in cold or hot weather, I will come to a stop and initially the idle is normal. But after about 30 seconds, the idle drops and will stall unless I quickly press the accelerator.. This must be held until I actually drive on, and all will then work as expected. The next time I come to a stop, the same sequence occurs - normal idle for about 30 seconds, then will stall unless I press accelerator. One gets use to it, but there clearly is something wrong. Looking for suggestions on what might be causing this problem. This is a 1.9 1983 manual, water cooled. No mods from original have been made. > Looking for a 2014 with this fixed! > > Ian in Indiana > > ---------------------------------------------------- > From: Ian Steele, U. of Chicago > 5734 S.
