In a similar vein, my Dad's 1985 Westy blew out a cam gallery plug on Friday, it was stupid cold out and he was running 20W50. He warmed it up idling for 10 minutes before driving, but once it was revved up it developed enough pressure to pop its cork.

Is there a recommended replacement for these plugs? Apparently Dad's mechanic says they are NLA from VW.
