Subject: Soliciting VW Engine Recommendations
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Yes, I have been reading the archives and trying to create a decision matrix spreadsheet. Cunegonde is driven about 60% freeway, 30% off-road/snow,10% in town (heavily loaded, she's a working girl). Given funds are limited, I've ruled out a diesel/SVO upgrade (waaaah). After doing a lot of Subaru engine replacements/maintainance over the last decade, I am sticking with VW for me.

Let me ask anyway:

Which inline-4 *VW* engines are most suited for my '83.5 Westfalia? Displacement? Fore'n'aft or transverse? Best years? Preferred EFI systems?

Let the opinions fly!
