Hi Bretts.. you may think you are missing out on something by not having a diesel.

I say you are not missing much there at all ! not in the bigger picture.

I can't see you with an I4 conversion myself. the most basic ones are 1.8 8 valve ( or the common 2.0 block with 1.8 8 valve head on it ) .. and Digifant EFI.

I think ..'for you' .. a good solid 2.1 wbxr long block which can run just fine on Digijet EFI would be good. My personal best van runs that.. and I have the full 2.1 exhaust and intake .. but all 1.9 EFI, ignition and cooling system. I also retrofitted the oil cooler/heat exchanger from a 2.1 ... I love this set up. for a waterboxer..it's just great.

can be a little thirsty on fuel ..if I push hard ( adventurewagon ) I can be as low as 16.5 mpg ..but taking it easy ..19mpg is attainable. oh ...and she goes up 'most hills' in 4th gear ...like pulls hills at 50mph, and up, in 4th gear really really well.
