I highly recommend renting an auto trailer from U-haul transport a Vanagon of any type.

When Ol' Red stranded me in Clinton, Ok - I rented a 14 foot U-haul Box Van truck to do the pulling and an auto trailer to do the hauling. Best move I could have made. Pulled all my gear from the Van to lighten the load and threw it into the U-haul truck - and off I went.. Clinton, OK to Birmingham, AL in a day. A long day - but a day. Couldn't have done it without that combination.

People do it - dolly a Van all over. But not me, not after that experience. I would take no chances. The trailer is made to get the job done.
