With the Bosch VE pump, it is possible to replace that big O-ring without taking the pump apart but its not easy and everyone will tell you not to attempt it. If you take the outlet block completely off, the innards of the injector pump will fall out of place so the trick is to take two screws out and with the other two loose but still in place fit a new O ring over the screws. Then replace the two screws loosely that were out and remove the other two. This will allow the new O ring to go into the right place and then you can tighten up all 4 screws properly. Like I said, you have to be very careful and confident and most people will call you crazy if you attempt it. Its not necessary to mess with the outlet fittings etc. They can stay tight on the block as the O-ring will easily go past them. Other seals are much easier to replace. Kits of seals are available online and not expensive. I got mine from a guy in Cummings near Atlanta who advertises on Ebay. You will find write ups on google I have done it twice on two VW D24T diesel engines so I know it can be done but you "have been told its risky" and others will repeat the warning. If in doubt get a specialist to do the job and pay the fairly expensive bill. Steve
