I have never heard anyone say that a set of Vanagon rectangular lenses worked anywhere near as well as a set of 7" rounds unless they were joking or they had the European H4 rectangles.

The high vs. low beams issue that John is experiencing has nothing at all to do with the SA Grill, since it typically doesn't come with any outer lights. It is most likely due to using e-Code lenses that have a much different vertical cutoff than standard US DOT lenses. Substituting something like the Hella Vision Plus headlight, which looks like a Euro H4 lens, but has the cutoff of a US spec lens would probably help with this problem. The Vision Plus lenses will provide significantly more upward lighting (enough of a difference that they are illegal in most of the world) and will fill in the dark space between low and high beam better than the e-Code beam shape.

I'm not wonderfully thrilled with my SA rounds either, the relationship between the hi beams and the low beams with that severe cutoff leaves a dark hole in the road when driving over hilly ground with the low beams on. It's just enough that a deer could dart out and I would never seehim until I was right on top of him. If I adjust that out - then the low beams are to high and bright for on coming drivers.

I have the relays and higher wattage bulbs.
