Bell here :) ya have yer choices Jim. You can leave the stub axle on the van and slide housing out, but I’d advise taking cv bolts off and remove assembly intact. yes, chock the wheel, take the hub off. then take the backing plate off - advise using brass drift on the pins locating plate to axle housing less you peen them over. you can swing backing plate out of the way with hydraulic line connected. ab
