Subject: 99 Intermittent wiper function failure cause.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

Hi all.

A lister on thesamba prompted me to look into an issue with my intermittent wiper function.

On my '81, I installed a 99 relay into the stock wiper relay position. It worked fine but recently became intermittent.

Relay was properly mounted in the OEM fuse block. I'm about 100% certain that cracked solder joints is the issue. Wiggling the "I" pin, I see movement at the solder joint.

I'm posting as these relays may be getting harder to find and AFAIK, the one from van-cafe isn't the same type. I'm hoping that reheating these joints will save the relay. Or will we start seeing 99 relays on eBay for $100 ? EG. ;)

Neil.
