I didn't see anything suggesting use of the stove as the heat source, but rather a kind of candle called a "tea light."  Of course, the amount of heat released from the candle would be identical whether it was covered in this fashion or simply open to the air.  Not much (a candlepower?).  Couldn't resist.

The little pot could serve as a place to warm one's hands, I suppose.  Should be properly ventilated, and likely to draw in as much cold air as it warms.  But, one could warm one's hands.
