Subject: Speedo cable install question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hey all,

I've got a new speedometer cable installed from the dash head unit down through the body, bypassing the old OX counter box. I've run into a roadblock getting the other cable half out of the wheel assembly. Trying to pull it through the back side of the wheel assembly, I can't get it to budge.

I've pulled the retaining clip off the cable at the grease cap, but I've yet to pull the cap off. Do I need to do this? I replaced a cable on a '72 Westy ages ago and it just slid through the hub w/o issue. Not so with this Vanagon.

thanks, Andrew 87 GL 2WD
