RE: EZ Ups and Wind Don mentioned the EZ Ips in the wind. And I know several of my fellow WetWesties that regularly use EZ Ups next to their rig when camping. But the EZ Ups (and their genetic twins of different trade names) appear to have been designed by a frustrated airplane or kite engineer. They sure do love to fly when given the opportunity. In the past, not when VW camping, I have seen several EZ Ups really take off in a high wind. I watched one rise about 20 feet off the ground and travel about 100 feet before it came down, narrowly missing several people. At the same time another lifted and went tumbling end over end until slamming into a vehicle. These were vendors booths set up at a star party in Eastern Washington. And at another star party in Oregon an EZ Up took off flying and hit a women causing injuries that required evacuation to a hospital. I don't know if these had been staked down or not. So be aware, they need as much attention in the wind as any attached awning.
