Its the fact that the thicker oil will "not" bleed down over night, hence the lifters don't have to pump up in the am. All of this is in proportion to lifter wear and engine condition in general of course. If the lifters are badly worn and bleed down, nothing will help short of replacement of said lifters. If they loose their oil it must be replaced. You have to consider that the lifters are laying on there side unlike most every other design, and this just aggravates the problem
