Clever, possibly ;)

I tried compressing the material on two arms. Rookie mistake, but I should have measured holes for "round" first but.... on one, the small hole got a little out of round but did get slightly smaller. The second arm didn't (likely because I used a bolt head instead of nut) but on each, the larger ID end didn't change. Even if the hole got a little smaller at the narrow end, the entire hole would likely be malformed making for a small amount of purchase on wiper shaft.

My idea is fetid! :)

As Larry suggests, removing material at the base of the arm might do and would certainly be a better option than filing *any* amount from the base of wiper shaft.

I had read of the steel wool suggestion in the archives but thanks for that Dean B. Hadn't heard of drywall mesh. Thanks Stuart.

Neil.
