Dear Rollin Rollin Rollin keep those dials Rollin
Mileage is useful only to those educated about vehicle purchase by boogie
man hunters who have drilled into the heads of the average buyer - that the
odometer is the tell all dial on a vehicle -
Those who know vehicles know that there is far more than odometer reading
that must be taken into account - and on any vehicle over 15 years old the
only time odometer reading matters is - when the vehicle sports a very low
reading well below average use - or very high with non if the signs Of wear
- both anomlies -
The person who is buying a vanagon especially - ( or me anyway) find the
odometer read to be the very last thing I will look at - there is so much
more to pay attention to and as you say the dash or the speedo may have
been replaced - which makes one ask why ? Simple failure ? - dash R n R ?
- Upgrade?
On a vehicle older than 15 years the actual miles on parts in place are of
more significance - than dash mileage -
The only time these numbers bother me is when vendor says -170,000 miles
and I have never done a thing to the vehicle -
To me this speaks of neglect and luck rather than smart vehicle purchasing
15+ years ago --
I would suggest any prospect who uses of reader as a reason not to buy is
simply telling the easiest lie that can think of to prevent them selves
from purchasing some the spouse will blow a gasket over
Regards
