Keep in mind that aluminum corrodes, and the surface becomes a protective
coating of aluminum oxide.  Clean off the moss and bumps with steel wool,
but don't bother to polish it, it will just go back to the way it was, which
is it's normal state.  You can only polish aluminum alloys that can keep a
shine.


The frames in your windows will last for 100 years or more with no
maintenance, but they won't stay shiny.  I do wish they put these windows in
the Vanagon though.  (Vanagon content.)
