Don you are talking about an inline 4 vw engine, specifically a 1.8, correct? They have extremely different oil pressure characteristics than a wbxer and you may have just scared every wbxer owner with an oil pressure gauge that isn't maintaining 70psi on the highway.

To any wbxer owner who is maintaining 70psi on the highway, I am scared for you and very confused.

Wbxers, much like their air cooled counterparts, run oil pressures that make the rest of the world of "normal" engines cringe.
