This is "Unca' Joel" Walkers 1988 Transporter that I acquired from him a few years back. I liked the name of the Van and never changed it. For those who remember and Newbies who don't know, Unca' Joel was our Vanagon List Laureate for a number of years, with his Van related poetry and prose. He also kept all kinds of stats on Vanagons across the land. But, change comes to all, and he moved on. Here is a link to the current ad running on Craigs list for those interested in seeing this van. I'll be taking this off the Craigslist in the next few days, but thought I would leave it up for the curious. Volksiebus has found a happy home, I believe - something of importance to me, so as much as I'm happy with the sale - Iam also happy with the deal as well. The new owner is out of Georgia, and is a long time VW owner. He nearly lost his son in the last Vanagon he owned some years ago when someone "T"boned him and totaled the vehicle. Kid got out with scrapes and bruises and broken collar bone. But apparently they had to extract him through the windshield. But now he wants another - and Volksiebus is it! Now I can turn my attention to restoring my 1991 Carat - a vehicle I look forward to driving. First thing - it gets new 15-16 inch rims and new tires. Then an auto tranny overhaul. I'm debating getting the peloquin installed while the tranny is in for rebuild. After that - it's take care of a ton of little stuff. But I need to be able to drive it, so the niggling stuff will have to wait. Will report as work progresses. John |
