One of those small Harbor Freight "type" trailers (you can get them all over the place). Build a rack for it to hold the kayaks & bikes & other the camping stuff. If it's too much for a Vanagon it's too much for a Vanagon... When you get enough 'stuff' it's a trailer or bigger truck, I've seen families (it looked like extended families) out for a long weekend with a U-Haul truck for the 'stuff'.
