Should be able to get 6 sea kayaks stacked, but not using Yakima's hyper expensive stacker units. My rack is 2x3" aluminum channel about 7' long wiht a billet aluminum mount that holds a solid aluminum 1" diameter shaft vertically and has a hole on top for rope to lasso all the boats. It's inset just enough to get one boat on the driver's side and the rest on theother. pm and I could send photos. It was WAY cheaper than a Yakima and way stronger.... YMMV
