Subject: Fuel Expansion Tank: Cracks, Grommet. PICS

Hi all.

As I was advised, inspected both expansion tanks. Pass. side tank grommet had held ok with epoxy. But the driver side, well ..... (image):

http://tinyurl.com/okz6jt8 Obviously not an acceptable repair or really even a repair for that matter. This was done earlier in my Vanagon "career".

More here showing crazing and crack.

You really have to look close and carefully push on the plastic to inspect. The area that shows crazing was quite soft. (wear from water off tire?)

Thankfully I have a spare tank though it's been repaired with a brake bleeder and Goop. It will be replaced post haste.

Enjoy!

Neil.
