you would determine that by installing the rim and see how much thread or stud length you have or need. Same for bolts in the front on a 2WD vanagon.

heck ..those you can just stick one front bolt through your new rim and see how far it sticks inward from the inner face.

remove the rear wheel flange ( the big nut and cotter pin )

it's best to use a press .. though you can drive them out with a hammer ..perhaps ruining the threads ..unless you put a nut on flush with the end of the stud before you whack it.

pressing new ones in .. press is best .....it's important to get them exactly true ...like not tilted. they could be hammered in ..but that's butcher mechanic style really.

if you take the flanges and new studs to a machine shop ..they might not charge you to much to install them nicely.
