well, Jeff, ya gotta see where this could be a good thing for preservation. stone chips from the road are one thing but, if the vehicle were used (ewww) in the icky dirt and mud off road it might not get thoroughly rinsed. ( I mean, really, who has the time these days) the splash up would settle where it could retain moisture - causing rust. off roading also requires a certain skill set to keep the vehicle upright. most people are barely machine operators on the roads - few are actual drivers. so, up for sale is a mostly clean, straight vehicle (starts fine, runs great, shifts smooth, etc) when the fad wears off. yes, poseurs of the world - tune in to the 'reality tv', car flipper shows. jack up the price - maybe, eventually, sell at a tax deductible loss. and by all means, darlings, dress appropriately for a weekend at the country home - some one even lamer than you is watching ... mike ________________________________ From: Jeff Schwaia <vw.doka@GMAIL.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2014 2:56 PM Subject: Re: Tires and Wheels - The best laid plans of Mice and Men..... I bet most Syncro owners only drive on paved roads... Seems like owning a Syncro Westy is more of a fashion statement these days. Fewer people own them for their utility. Cheers, Jeff |
