My Mercedes CLK wheels shod with 215/65 16 tires weigh 6lbs less a piece than steel wheels with Hankook RA08 195/14 tires. I have been using CLK wheels on my Vanagon Westy for a few years now. I now use 225/60 16 tires. My braking actually improved with big meats over skinny 195 tires despite the lack of a dozen or so wall plies. That's all I'm going to say... It's all been documented in the archives.
