Most? We all have different realities, and for me those have changed as I go thru life's machinations. When I lived in the SF Bay area, my '90 Syncro tintop had 14" alloys with 215/75/14 Michelin MXP's?(no longer available). We camped everywhere off road, CA north coast, in and east of the Sierra Nevada's, even drove to the upper parking lot of the Sierra Buttes fire station. Went out on the beach at OR Dunes, etc... Moved to NJ with kids where campgrounds are only open between the holidays and seeing another Vanagon makes me want to have them over for dinner. Well, not so much off road here. I bought 15" rims because proper load rated tires for 14"er's were becoming scarce at that time and I wanted options. I kept the 14's, put aggressive off road 215/75's on them, but have yet to use them. My 215/65/15 Defenders take me wherever I need to go. One gripe to air... let's show love and understanding to all those Syncro Westy posers, $90k GW Westy buyers, new buyers who overpaid, owners with some un necessary to you doodads on their van. All owners are needed to keep our vendors in business so in twenty years when I'm still milking life out of my van, I have someone to buy it from. Yeah, seeing some bearded, plaid wearing Brooklyn hipster in a Westy in my favorite spot at North South lake campground, irked me. But he came over with some fine rye before I could go his way. BTW, I was going to make an offer on that $12k Craig's List Westy in Bend recently, but felt so intimidated by the comments posted here, I'll just wait until I find a pristine one for $8k with no Rhino liner which I know one of you is going to sell me. Actually my wife shot the purchase down.

Xo Paul
