IMO, the term "restoration" is thrown around way too liberally these days. We're just completing a '91 Westy that has had a windows out, doors off, top off re-spray, new canvas, new window, door & trim rubber, new cooling system (stainless), new brakes, new suspension, new wheels & tires, and a rebuilt engine & transmission. We call that a "refurbishment".

A true restoration requires a complete disassembly of the vehicle. Every nut, bolt, component, etc., is examined and returned to new condition. It generally takes 9 to 12 months (or longer) to complete for a shop that does them on a regular basis.

End of rant...

Cheers,

Jeff

Not to pick it apart but for 125k I would expect some one to have there eyes open during the restoration and paint the gear shift lever.

A guy here is doing a sickro and is dumping coin into it. The body and paint guy does crazy good work and even did the Coors Silver Bullet Train Semi truck. don't think he charged that much for that one/

You can always ask for what you want. As my daughter says " Its good to want things"

She also coined " I am not a Bully, Your just a Sissy"

But the vanagon syncro is a way cool beast in general and if he can get it great. Just won't get it from me is all.
