Subject: Cylinder Head Gasket Repair & Coolant Hose Question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

Well, folks, today I reinstalled the right side cylinder head with new gasket. This job has mushroomed, as most Vanagon repair jobs do. I am now putting in a new water pump and thermostat. Got all those old pieces off today, and found something I should have anticipated: those two short hoses, the one coming into the thermostat housing and the other from the water pump over to the right head. I've been on Van Cafe website and found them , $10.90 each. Is there a cheaper alternative from a local flaps? Seems like there would be. I'm also replacing the temp II sensor and the gauge sending unit. I think this is going to be my last big waterboxer repair, I think it is about time to start an engine conversion fund. Jeff
