I think if you were to do this right, you could go buy a flat aluminum strip (like I did today to make a lantern holder) and epoxy it in one piece or sections to the back side of the AC housing, having marked and drilled pilot holes thought where the snaps are to go. Then drill through the aluminum and pop rivet the snaps in. Pop gun won't go down into the snap head, you say? Been there and done that! Go to a hardware store and buy a pack of those clamp-on ferrules they sell with the twisted/braided steel cable. Get a pack that will fit down into the snap, and then drill one to fit over the rivet. Use the spacer you just made to pop rivet them into place. At least with the pop rivets you wouldn't be headed down the road of needing ever-larger fasteners. There not a whole lot of stress on the rear screen anyway. Jim
