I'm getting some seepage from the short water hose that connects the metal pipe that goes from below the water pump across the engine to a metal right-angle pipe near cylinder #2. Since I'm replacing the motor mounts and have the muffler, cat, and heat shield out, this should be easy, right? The problem is that I still can't get to one of the bolts on the pipe at the bottom of the water pump. It's just enough behind the crankshaft pully that I can't get to it. Tom's VW page says use a 12-mm wrench; I'm not so lucky. My bolts are Allen head. I thought I got an Allen wrench on the bolt, but when I turned it it just rounded out the inside of the bolt head. At this point is it possible to remove the water pump with the pipe attached so I can get to that bolt? |
