New water pumps will be a little stiff. The seal is a friction type part. It will loosen once wet and run for a few minutes. The O-ring should work without sealant (should), but use a non-hardening sealant like Hylomar. The right Stuff will seal most anything. Did you also get the thermostat from GoWesty or a local store? If the later make sure it is correct!

Good Morning All, Installing my new water pump, thermostat, and other assorted items today. Got a couple of questions: The new water pump (Graf, Go Westy) is a bit tight, it doesn't turn easily, but does turn, is that normal for a new water pump? Last one I installed was back in 2006 and I can't remember. Second question, when bolting everything back together, just use the provided gaskets, or add a thin skim of Right Stuff to each side for added insurance, or is that not really necessary? Thanks again, Jeff

Jeff Stewart
