IT LIVES!! The Phoenix has risen from it's ashes once again! A few years ago I retrieved a 1991 Carat from Unca Joel's garage. It had already sat in there for a number of years and when he offered it up I grabbed it. Loaded it on an auto trailer and towed it home. I resurrected it, got it running, but the tranny was shot and it just stayed mostly parked in the yead. I would run it every little bit, but I had other restorations going on. One day it just would not start, so I just left it parked, Then I moved, and it went into storage. I had no space for it at the new place, and it sat for three more years. Then, two weeks ago, I dragged it out of storage and over to Jim's VW in Leeds, AL for check over and a auto tranny overhaul. Today, I visited there - and after a few preliminaries, the key went into the ignition, was turned, and the engine roared to life!! IT LIVES ONCE AGAIN. Next trick - get it on the road. More on this adventure later. John |
