It all depends on how you are using the van. I have a 2 person middle
seat I put in when we have family visiting so we can all ride together
and sightsee. Hard to do that with some people facing backwards. Of
course young people don't so much care which way their seat faces since
they are only looking at what is in their hands anyway.

It would be a pain to take a 2 person middle seat camping in a Westy,
especially if you only need 1 seat. There is a single person Westy
middle seat that slides onto the same floor tracks for that. So you can
still use the kitchen with it in and it is freestanding when outside,
unlike the jumpseats. It is very stout and has a swivel like the front
Westy seats so it is a heavy beast to put in and out. Probably safer
than a jumpseat in a crash though.
