As Ken said, I've seen Subaru installs with the Subie DBW pedal mounted by the engine and connected to the stock pedal & cable, though likely a modified cable. Freakishly ugly, but it works.

Check with www.smallcar.com and others who make Subaru conversion parts for a cable extension or other ideas.

Another suggestion is to join the Yahoo! Groups Subaruvanagon list and search the archives. You'll find what you are looking for there. DO NOT post to the list and identify your engine, or you will be kicked off immediately. It's an extremely Subaru focused list.

Hi All; So here I am with an '87 Westy with a VW 2011 inline Gen V engine using the OBDII CPU (exactly which one I'm not sure) that is drive by wire. The gas pedal is a retrofit Golf pedal. The angle is not the most pleasant. I have heard of an adjustable pedal that is being used in the UK ,and Europe (I think), for both diesel and gas VW models most of which aren't in the USA market. The adjustability is so it may be used in many applications. Here's the quandary. I have only heard of it and a quick internet search didn't tell me anything. There are a bunch of you that are into some esoteric items and I am hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. My Westy is meant for travelin' and that pedal can be bothersome.

Dave B.
