Many early VW's used the filter with the 11mm hose on both sides. It will also work on 86 and later or replacement tanks with the 11mm outlet.

Hello List,

I want to educate myself about some weirdness I recently experienced. I recently bought a square fuel filter for my 85 vanagon. It is the square pre-pump filter. I was excited about it since I got a crazy deal on it, but I realize now why.

The filters I'm used to getting have 2 different diameter openings on them like this one: https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=359975&cc=1286445

The one I got is the larger diameter on both sides. I thought these where all the same. Which vanagons had these be the same size on both ends?

Please school me.... Also I would trade this one if someone had the one I needed.

Thanks, T.
