AND felt washer retainer ring dealt with.  When I called Darrell to apologetically ask him about it because some of you seemed to think it was likely to have been overlooked (I didn't think so), I think I said ".... retainer ring for the pilot bearing felt seal."  He said, "Do you mean that little metal ring that holds the felt 'warsher' in place?"  I said, "yes."  Darrell said, "Oh, I squirrel away 'ever' one I run across when I part out VWs, because they aren't available.  But yours was in there and in good shape, I just reused it."
