Hi Ken and All

It is not an ignition thing. Plenty of spark, Plenty of air and plenty of fuel. Just spins like the pistons are not attached. I have had a overcharge on lifters on a 1.9L. What happened with that one was you would drive it and it would just all of a sudden run on 3 cylinders and then over to 2 cylinders. It lead to a full rebuild and absolutely everything was perfect and well within tolerance. After back together it did it again! Someone on the list said try checking compression and find the cylinder with no compression then adjust the valve with 0 gap on the rocker arm to the valve. Did it and bingo bango instant compression. Also had another issue with the wiring harness that also lead to the rebuild so it was not just that. We are letting it sit for a few days Probably this weekend will spin again and pop a valve cover.

Personally I have never seen the complete lack of any compression we at 1st thought it was a bad bendix on the starter and it was just spinning free.

Also we were playing with it. No we did not change the oil OR put new gas in it. OLD VWs love to run on "Gas Concentrate" Sorry had to toss that in. We didn't think it would not run and we were not taking it on the road or abusing it. My guess is sticky Valves and lifters. We will get some Fix all Sea Foam and Marvel Mystery Oil to beat it up with and go from there.

Just wanted to toss this Out there for the powers that be.

Again had nothing to do with ignition or air or Fuel really. Btw the guys bus ( New to him ) is a Certified Mechanic so nothing scares him at all but we both stood there looking stupid, Or More Stupid as my Girlz say!!

All in good fun!!

Jonce
