Did the Vanagon sit unused for some time? With cars in general, I've read that this can be hard on the wheel bearings. My guess is that dial indicator would be revealing. If none on hand, maybe some type of home made device would do same? (flexible magnetic pick up tool?? Piece of stiff wire clamped to backing plate?) Neil.
