Subject: OT & NVC & Pre-Friday: Palcohol?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Please forgive -- this is best suited for Friday but I won't be able to post on Friday and I have a burnin' desire.

Unless you've been living on Mars this past week, you've heard about "Palcohol" <http://www.engadget.com/2014/04/21/palcohol/> purported to be "Powdered Alcohol."

It's making quite a stir on the Internets, and if was a Real Thing then it would be quite a boon for backpackers and other booze hounds who like to travel light but catch a buzz anyway.

Unless it is microencapsulated droplet of actual ethanol, I have a suspicion that it's just a hoax.

Sounds like dehydrated water to me. There are chemists on this list who might be able to weigh in.
