I just learned that this
past Sunday John Meeks lost his battle with Leukemia.

I am honored to have called this man a friend. He will be missed by many.
Most of you will know John as the creator of the Vanagon Rescue Squad and a
contributor to this community as well.

I have copied the text below from a post on FB - these are the words of
John's lovely wife Denise:
*John passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at home after an intensive
battle with leukemia and lymphoma. He was ready to go and looking toward
rejoining the universe. Per John's request, there will be no funeral. There
will be a private memorial service this summer at Blissfest, his favorite
place on this planet. There is no need for flowers or cards. If you want to
do something in his honor, please donate blood. John was so very grateful
for all the blood he received during his treatments. If you feel the need
to donate money, Buses by the Beach raises money for Phoenix Society for
Burn Survivors and John's favorite charity. Listen to music, enjoy nature,
and have a fine craft beer as you remember this wonderful man.*

Tonight I will raise a glass in John's memory and think about a
particularly wonderful conversation he and I had sitting by his westy by
the shore of the Rogue River - I feel blessed to have that memory today.

Thanks,

Jeff
'85 GL (Gertie)
'78 Bus (Melissa)
