For the defroster the added load is no problem for the rear defroster circuit. For the switch a power mirror switch from most any vehicle will work and dash mounting will mean less wires going into the driver's door. You will need to pull the connectors out of the plugs to get the wires on the mirrors themselves into the doors. Don't just cut them. I would try real hard to get the harness and mirrors from a junkyard. The factory harness for them make for a simple installation. You should try to get the later wire sleeves for the doors hinge area. The power mirrors are a great upgrade although it is a bit ironic that once installed and adjusted they seem to never need re-adjustment even with 4 different drivers.

Thanks volks - found my Volvo engine swap guy at his shop in Portland OR and will visit his van shortly.

Now... Cunegonde is an 83.5 and of course had the usual flag mirrors. We're ready to install power mirrors but don't have the OEM switch/wiring harness for them. Dash is out and I've copied the wiring from the 1991 diagram. Including hooking up the mirror heater power supply via the rear defrost circuit (do I need a relay for the additional load?). But what do you all recommend as a switch, and where are some places to locate it? All instrument cluster switch locations are taken.
