I havn't tried The Right Stuff on the head nuts, but I've done many rubber head gaskets with it .. excellent stuff. it can be your 'one and only black silicone for any use forever' it's that good.

ditto on 'clean' .. what i do it treat the stud threads with 'soemthing' .......even WD-40 and run nuts on them ( before putting head on ) until threads are clean and smooth. Same for the nuts .. I make sure they spin smoothly ..are not rusted or corroded.. and I have seen some that were just awful.

when everything is very clean and smooth .. then I use the yellow goop on the insides of the nuts generously. I have not seen a case of that causing any hydrualic bottoming out or resistance.

in any case.. get *everything' about the studs, stud threads, and nuts very clean/smooth and shiny FIRST .. before ever even thinking about putting on the head.

it's in the workmanship .. it's barely in the products used ...it's the meticulous workmanship. I could put one together with Permatex High Tack gasket sealer .. or ( almost ) candle wax, and it would work fine.

the temptation to 'get it done and finished.. that's a danger. like paint and body work ..it's ALL In The Prep !~
