Thanks Jaime. Looks like I'll be going the "make a new one at a local hose shop" route. At least I know what to expect now.

Hi 2 years ago I replaced the ac system in my Vanagon. I had new hoses made in Houston for R 134. I took the old hoses they matched the lenghts and cut the fittings out and welded them in to the new hoses. And all for a very reasonable price. System is tight and have not had to add freon since. Cheers Jaime

Hi All, Need some help with an A/C hose. The high pressure hose from my A/C compressor to the front of the van has been burned from the engine fire. All my R134 is gone. I only found this out since I've got the engine running and could not get the compressor to cycle on. I checked the high pressure switch in the D pillar and it showed no continuity. When I bypassed the switch, the clutch engaged. I could hear this swish/gurgle noise and traced it to the burnt section of hose. So where can I get a replacement hose? I don't know if this hose has been customized, since this is an Eurovan/Audi 5000 (I5) engine swap. The hose looks newish compared to the return line from the front condenser. What are my options here? If I have to make a new hose or repair the one I have, anybody know of a shop on the peninsula in the SF Bay Area? Thanks. -Dick Wong- 78 Scirocco Original Owner 87 Vanagon Syncro 2.5 (slightly crispy) Third Owner 12 Golf TDI Original Co-Owner
