Perhaps around year 2000 or so, list vendors had a sale on newer instrument clusters. I bought one, installed it in my '84 and made the wiring changes needed, particularly the one to keep the oil pressure buzzer from sounding when engine exceeded 2000 RPM. This fix worked until recently when the so-called grounding wire that kills the oil pressure buzzer apparently came loose from the connection at the foil. Being that I am somewhat older and that future van driver has been occupied with school work (two AP classes) and leader of the electrical group for the school's robotics team (rookie team on the year at Peachtree competition) and made it through the international First Robotics competition in St. Louis without making mistakes, just not fast enough), the van has not been used. So, is there an easy way to do the grounding without having to take the instrument cluster out or work upside down underneath the dash? John |
