Hi David. Yes. Had read of same. Admittedly I'm not overly familiar with these plastic pipes so don't have an experience based point of view, but have seen images of pipes with cracks so assumed that was another fail point.

I guess the question would be:

"to determine if the pipes need replacing sooner than later, can one use the length, amount, appearance of cracks to determine this?"

I have to be careful not to do too much preemptive work. In my earlier Vanagon "career" days, I had been known to replace parts before they'd failed. ;)
