When you say broken axle, I assume you mean the CV axle shaft, not the stub axle in the rear wheel hub. If it's the CV shaft, it's still doable with general tools. If the stub axle, it might be a bit more involved (although still doable with the "right" general tools). When reinstalling the CV axles, I like to loosely thread two or three bolts on the outer joint first, just to hold it in place and keep the clean CV joint out of the grime that's built up inside the trailing arm. Then I can get the inner CV in position, pull the bag off it, and get a few bolts started there. Once the thing is in place, you can take your time and get all the rest of the bolts in. On the Bostig there's the speed sensor on the driver's side, so you'll probably need to loosen (but not remove completely) the bracket to get the CV connected to the transmission.
