Rich,

Thanks. I am hoping that it is a simple matter of the solenoid, starter and or battery. We have had the van 3 years and I have been slowly going over the mechanics of the van but I have not replaced everything yet so the battery, starter and solenoid are still PO and not something that I have personally replaced.

Thanks for all of the help Vanagoneers…

Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Kevin P. Gilleran

If not turning over over even "no click" back by the starter solenoid, it may be that the solenoid contacts are stuck (and are worn out). Maybe letting van cool down will solve problem temporarily...that's the way it was for me. Or, you might try rapping the side of starter with a big wrench or stick or something, to unstick the contacts (I've never tried but have read about people on The List doing this). Cool-down overnight and it magically started in the morning and got me home, and never had problem the rest of the trip, but the final solution was a new starter.

Stacy, Thanks for checking in.

The transmission is an automatic. The lights work in the dash. I had Jessica run through the gears manually to make sure that the neutral-park switch is making full contact and yet Jessica says that the van is not turning over.

I found a local mechanic is SLO, Nate at Broadstreet, referred by Van Café so I hope that they can do a better diagnostic than I can over the phone.

Thanks!

Kevin
